Plastic Free July: Take the Pledge and Join in the Adventure!
The Environmental Justice Team of Main Line Unitarian Church is joining with more than 140 million people across the globe. We are pledging to cut out or limit single use plastics during Plastic Free July—and we invite everyone to join us!
While Plastic Free July is an international project, we invite all individuals, faith communities and other groups interested in sharing local perspectives, to join our pledge.
Our Pledge:
1. We seek to become more aware of plastics in our lives, the health dangers—for all living creaturea–and alternatives to the status quo. (One powerful program you can watch: a short online talk by Dee Kochirka on plastics, fossil fuels, and our health, from
PA Interfaith Power and Light )
2. We will do our best (perfection may be hard to come by) to avoid single use plastics for the month. We can share tips, successes, and frustrations, on our open Plastic Free Forum.
3. We will use this experience to engage with at least one pollution producing company (as, a soda or water bottle company, a grocery store), via a quick note or longer letter asking that they reduce their reliance on single-use plastics.
